A prescription refill is a repeat fill of a medication your prescriber has already authorized. Most maintenance medications, such as blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, birth control, and asthma medications, are written with refills so you can collect more without seeing your doctor each time.

At Cloud Pharmacy, every refill is checked by a licensed pharmacist before it goes out, and we bill your private insurance, OHIP+, or Ontario Drug Benefit coverage directly, so you only pay any remaining co-pay.

Refill or Renewal: What's the Difference?

A refill uses the repeats already on your prescription. A renewal is needed when those repeats run out or the prescription expires. When you ask us for a medication with no refills remaining, we contact your doctor or nurse practitioner for authorization. For many ongoing medications, an Ontario pharmacist can also renew the prescription directly when it is safe to do so. Learn more about online prescription renewals, or read our guide: No refills left? What to do next.

How to Refill Your Prescription at Cloud Pharmacy
  • Send Your Request: Use the online refill request form, call 647-748-1337, or visit us in store. Your prescription number helps, but your name and medication are enough.

  • We Check Your Refills and Coverage: We confirm refills remain on file and bill your insurance plan directly. If none remain, we contact your prescriber.

  • Pharmacist Review: A licensed pharmacist checks the dose, the timing, and any new medications you’ve started, to catch interactions before your refill is filled.

  • Pickup or Free Delivery: We call to confirm, then have your medication ready for pickup or delivered free to your home, office, or campus residence.

Moving from another pharmacy? Tell us where your prescriptions are, and we'll contact your old pharmacy and transfer your remaining refills for you. There's no fee, and the request takes about two minutes.

  • We contact your old pharmacy
  • Remaining refills moved over
  • Free, usually within 24 hours

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I request a prescription refill?

You can use the online refill request form on our homepage, call us at 647-748-1337, or visit the pharmacy at 55 Dundas St E. Your prescription number helps, but your name and the name of your medication are enough for us to find it.

How long does a prescription refill take?

We review online refill requests within one business day and call you to confirm pickup or delivery. If your prescription has no refills left, we need authorization from your prescriber or a pharmacist renewal first. Our standard renewal turnaround is 24 hours.

What happens if I have no refills left?

We will contact your doctor or nurse practitioner to request a renewal. For many long-term medications, an Ontario pharmacist can also renew your prescription directly when it is safe to do so. Controlled substances always need a new prescription from your prescriber.

Can I refill a prescription that is at another pharmacy?

Yes. We transfer your prescription and remaining refills from your current pharmacy at no cost, usually within 24 hours. Certain controlled substances cannot be transferred, so for those your prescriber will need to send a new prescription to us.

Is prescription refill delivery free?

Yes. We deliver prescription medications free throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Over-the-counter items on their own do not qualify, but they are delivered free when ordered with at least one prescription.

Can you remind me when a refill is due?

Yes. Ask our team to set up refill reminders, or enrol in medication synchronization so all your refills fall on the same day each month.
