MedsCheck reviews and minor ailment assessments for eligible Ontarians.

A pharmacist consultation is a one-on-one conversation with a licensed pharmacist about your medications and your health.

Ontario pharmacists do far more than fill prescriptions. They can review your full medication list, check for interactions, assess and prescribe for common minor ailments, renew many ongoing prescriptions, and give vaccines, often the same day and without a trip to a walk-in clinic.

What Can You Ask a Pharmacist?

Anything about the medicines you take, whether prescription, over-the-counter, or natural health products. Common reasons Toronto patients talk to our pharmacists include:

  • How and when to take a new prescription, and what to expect
  • Side effects, and whether they are a reason to call your doctor
  • Interactions with other medications, vitamins, or supplements
  • What to do after a missed or doubled dose
  • Choosing the right over-the-counter product for a cold, allergy, or pain
  • Whether a medicine is safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Starting a New Medication

A new prescription raises questions: how to take it, which side effects are normal, and how it fits with everything else you use. A short conversation with a pharmacist at the start helps you take it safely and with confidence.

  1. Bring Your Medications: Bring the bottles or a current list, including over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements.

  2. Bring Your Cards: Your Ontario health card, plus any private or student insurance card, so we can check your coverage for funded services.

  3. Write Down Your Questions: Note any side effects, changes in your health, or questions from your doctor so nothing gets missed.
