With the announcement of symptomatic testing in pharmacies, we have put processes in place in addition to those that already existed, including proper sanitization at testing locations, HEPA air purifiers for enclosed testing areas, proper PPE for those conducting the test including a surgical/procedure mask, eye protection, gloves, and gowns along with frequent hand hygiene throughout the day. We also require the patient to book an appointment ahead of time (this is not a walk-in service), to arrive at their scheduled time and not early for the appointment and to leave immediately following the test. They will also be required to wear proper PPE.
You can request an appointment online through the COVID-19 Public PCR Test appointment request webpage. Patients must complete the online screening request form to request a COVID-19 appointment. The request will be delivered to your selected pharmacy and the pharmacy team will contact you to review the required screening assessment and book an appointment for the test. When you make an appointment, you will be asked to arrive at your scheduled time and not earlier, and will be directed to leave the store immediately following your test. You will be required to wear a mask at all times during your visit. Additional information on your appointment will be communicated by the pharmacy at time of booking.
Patients who present their green health card at the time of their test will be able to obtain their test results online, through the Ministry of Health’s access portal. Patients who present without a health card or with a red and white health card will not be able to access their results online; for these patients, the pharmacy team will contact you with your results. The Pharmacy team and Public Health will contact all patients with positive results.
Tests will be processed at a lab selected by the Ministry of Health. Due to laboratory capacity, there will also be delays in receiving test results. The turnaround time can be up to 7 days for results to be uploaded by the Lab and shared with the Pharmacy.
